Coach, consultant, licensed hypnotherapist & certified nutritionist
Dr. Mary Wansley, PhD
I am an integrative counselor, clinical hypnotherapist, group facilitator, and mindfulness trainer. My work is grounded in a simple truth: the way we think, feel, and communicate shapes our behavior-and ultimately, our lives.
I began my career as a college professor teaching interpersonal and organizational communication at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I earned a master's degree and doctorate in communication and human behavior, and my post-doctoral work led me to become a licensed clinical hypnotherapist, with additional certifications in executive coaching, mindfulness training, neuro-linguistic programming, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
My professional work is informed not only by research and training, but by lived experience. I sought counseling to overcome emotional eating, process difficult emotions, and heal trauma. I used hypnotherapy to quit smoking, lose weight, and address deeply rooted habits. Experiencing the power of both conscious insight and subconscious work firsthand shaped my belief in an integrative approach to change-one that combines counseling, coaching, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness.
Fifteen years ago, I created the Mind Body Reset Method, an eight-session, step-by-step program to address the root causes of maladaptive coping and help clients end emotional eating, binge eating, and repetitive dieting. The method weaves together counseling, clinical hypnotherapy, nutritional coaching, and mindfulness practices to support sustainable behavior change. I've offered this work one-on-one, in group settings, and trained other practitioners in this modality-and I have helped over 5,000 individuals heal their relationship with food and regain the quality of their lives.
As my clients' lives expanded, so did my practice. Many chose to continue their work beyond food and body concerns, seeking support with relationships, addictions, conflict, and personal growth. Through referrals, my work grew to include couples, families, and individuals navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges that require depth, discretion, and a highly individualized approach. This foundation also led to opportunities in congressional advising on sensitive issues, business communication consulting, and keynote speaking.
Today, my practice includes programs to transition off weight-loss medications and provide nutritional coaching for sustained weight loss and optimal health, address anxiety and stress-reduction, mindfulness training, and interpersonal skills development. I am well-versed in the 12-step modality and facilitate a weekly women's recovery group focused on relapse prevention and long-term recovery, as well as a Mondays with Dr Mary meditation call I offer to previous and existing clients.
My work reflects more than 15 years of refining an integrative method that helps people build self-awareness, strengthen emotional regulation, and create healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
In my personal life, I'm the mom of an amazing 25-year-old son, live between Dallas Texas and West Palm Beach Florida, and recharge through yoga, skiing, and golf. I also spend a month in Europe each summer to stay connected to my sense of adventure and appreciate culture.
